This is the model hand I got for when I sell wristwarmers at the craft fair next year:

It is a bit of a production getting the warmer onto the hand, as the fingers don’t bend, and are in that splayed position.
This is the kit Aunt Judith and Uncle Peter got me:

The Kureyon colourway is #52, and a very beautiful one. Aunt Judith says that she has made one of these bags already, and it worked well. Hers is only lightly felted; I think I may felt mine a lot, I like a good strong bag. The company’s website is here. It is a very nice kit, everything you need except the needles. I love the handles, they’re copper wire just bent into a circle and joined, but it will solve that age-old problem of icord handles stretching and sagging. I won’t be able to put it over my shoulder, but that’s fine.
The only thing worrying me is that in the instructions, you put it all together before felting, so the metal handles go in the washing machine. That can’t be good, can it? I understand why: you sew the handle strips around the handles, and then it felts to the proper size, but I’m worried about the washing machine.

I got some knitting-related gifts:
A kit form my aunt Judith and uncle Peter, for making a felted back with round (wire) handles, complete with 3 balls of Kureyon! A very nice greeny-bluey-black colourway.
Dad got me a big gift certificate to the Beehive, and I can’t wait to spend it. I think I will have to wait though, as I’ve got wool for two projects I haven’t even started yet, and I’ve had that for ages. A skirt in chocolate brown Waterspun (Heathery Duo, fall IK, I think), and the Huntingdon Castle pullover from the fall IK, in red with cream.
I’ll take pictures later.

This is an overdue entry. I finished the Cape Mod Poncho about a month ago, and only now am I getting the pictures up. Me in the poncho, yadda yadda yadda… Now that I’ve made it, I don’t really want to wear it anymore. Mum got me a beautiful coat for a Christmas present, so I don’t feel I need it anymore. I know it isn’t right, but I tried to sell it at the craft fair. It didn’t sell, which is good, because my concience might have killed me if it did. I do have a poncho that I don’t know what to do with now though.
The table at the craft fair. All but two of my scarves sold, and sold within the first couple hours. I sold a few of mum’s purses, and a lot of her ornaments. I had to keep re-doing my table because I had huge gaps everywhere. I loved doing it, I practically grew up at craft fairs, it was all so familiar. The whole time I had this weird feeling of deja vu, because I had done it all before. About 10 years ago.

I went into school yesterday to hand in my final stuff (IT”S OVER!!) and my design teacher stopped me and said ‘I have a question for you’. ‘Uh oh’ think I, thinking I’d forgotten an assignment.
‘You knit fingerless mittens, don’t you?’
‘…yes’
‘I’d like to comission a pair’.
Turns out my friend Ashley (who I made a pair for last year) had been in earlier, wearing hers, and Allan’s wife had seen them and raved about them, so Ashley told her where she got hers. And now I’m making another pair. I’m not entirely certain if they’re for Allan’s wife or daughter, but they’re stretchy, so it doesn’t really matter. His wife isn’t much bigger than me, and I’m sure his daughter (14) is smaller. The only odd thing is that his wife teaches costume shop, so I’m making a garment for someone who spends all day doing just that. eek.
I’ve got tons of pics of things on my camera that I just need to upload. Now the crazy last month of school is over, I actually have time.
