I finished the ‘Ringo’ bag Judith sent, and felted it the other night. I threw in a few things to help with the agitation, one of them was the Booga bag I knitted (but hadn’t felted) a while ago. The Booga felted really well after 2 goes through the machine, the Ringo needed a bit more, so I boiled it on the stove (mum’s suggestion). I still think it is a bit too floppy, so I may have another go.
I looked in my knitting notebook/diary the next day and realised that a year to the day had passed between the time I finished knitting the Booga and the day I felted it. Now that is procrastination, my friends.
I started the Huntingdon Castle pullover a couple nights ago, I’m up to the part where the colourwork part starts. I stopped, because I’ve never done colourwork of any kind before (apart from stripes) and it freaked me out a bit. I just need to sit down with it and a good book though, and I think it’ll be okay. I’d only done cables once before I started Rogue, so if I can do that I can do this.
With knitting, I’m a big advocate of the ‘just jump in!’ method. There’s all these people posting LJ Knitting, saying that they’d love to do ‘X’ but I’ve only ever knitted scarves before, what should I practise on before I make ‘Y’ sweater, etc etc. Just jump on in! Rogue was my first sweater, and my second cabled project, and it turned out fine.
Pictures tonight or tomorrow, I’m at school right now, so I can’t post them.
