For starters, Bloglines is a great website that helps you read blogs. You add ‘feeds’ (blogs) to your list, and read them all in once place.
I have 113 in mine, but don’t worry, I didn’t mention all of them! Please go visit these blogs, and read the other entries too! Comment, it’ll be fun, I swear.

• And She Knits Too - Earth Stripe Wrap in Kidslik Haze. Yum.
• Close to My Heart - Chocolate! The Norwegian Woods Shawl, and Roza’s Socks. Both done in yarn from Elann, a wonderful online yarn store with amazing prices.
• CraftyGrrrl.ca - is spinning yarn for an ENTIRE sweater! I bow down before teh skillz. She might be using fibres from Enchanted Knoll at Etsy. Yummy.
• Domesticrafts - Domesticat is making Rambling Rose in very saturated, squishy-looking Socks that Rock. I’ll have to get my hands on some of that when I’m off the yarn diet.
• Grumperina - is making pretty striped socks, with NO jogs! The technique takes advantage of the fact that knitting in the round is technically knitting in a spiral.
• Hello Yarn - Baby Surprise Jacket in such cute yarn. I love these jackets, and want to make one.
• Diversion - I need to get my hands on Romantic Handknits. If someone gives me the book, does that get my out of my no buying patterns rule? I think so!
• Knits a Beautiful Life - Artfibres yarn. Coned yarn is almost as cute as yarn cakes, especially with photos as good as these!
• Knitting Philistine - an entry full of single socks, all appropriate for the current Project Spectrum.
• Lolly Knitting Around - Hexagon Blanket is already cuddly and warm-looking, even though it is still on the needles.
• SlippedStitch - Messy Tuesdays! So much more do-able than Eye candy Fridays, I think.
• Through the Loops - Cute, simple, pretty hat. I love the colours, and the garter brim looks so cushy and squishy.
• Yarn Storm - Simple socks in rich, rich Kaffe Fasset Regia Caribbean yarn.

Here’s a tutorial for for making your own light tent. I vaguely followed it; as much as I could the materials I had at hand.

About time for a knitting update, isn’t it? I’m doing wonderfully on two counts:

1. The Millicent Socks

Yes, that is Millicent #2! And so close to being done. I finally got over what was keeping me from finishing it, which was an error in the pattern! The directions for the left gusset and left foot are slightly wrong. I mentioned it on Ravelry, and Cookie confirmed it, which was all I needed to get going. I find it odd no one noticed the error before, and I have seen finished Millicents… maybe I was following the pattern too blindly?

2. Cara’s Socks:

That is sock #2, partway through the heel flap. Will I have two finished pairs of socks in March? I hope so!

A quick digression on airline knitting: I recently flew from Vancouver to Calgary and back, with the Millicents in my carry-on luggage (I had no checked bags). No one said a thing. On the way back, I stuffed more needles into my bag in case I need them out here, and no one said anything. Not even the security guy who hit me on the head with his beepy paddle thingy. I was making everything beep on that trip through security, even the hooks on my bra made the thing beep.

(Please excuse the photos, I’m staying with friends of my parents, and don’t want to have to explain taking photos of half-finished socks, so I took the pics in my room in the basement.)

Still stranded internet-less, but I took some plane pictures, and wanted to give you a tour of the Calgary-Vancouver journey (all photos clickable for bigger).

Canada is big. Like, BIG big. So you can see a lot of different terrain, and weather, within a just an hour’s flight.

I started off here:

Hella flat, no green to be seen. The temperature was about 0C, so fairly warm for the time of year.

Then we flew over these:

They are quite possibly the opposite of flat. And a bit green, under the white. Somehow when I’m looking at the mountains from above like this, I can’t believe they’re real.

Then, we get to the destination, the wonderful warm, green place I’ve been waiting for, that will welcome me back with that fresh ocean smell:

I suppose I did get standard Vancouver weather. It wasn’t really raining, that was just mist. And I could smell the ocean, which was wonderful. But it was all very grey. That’s just what Vancouver is though, I suppose.

At least until the sun sets, and you get this:

I love Canada.

And if you’re reading this, love, I love you and miss you like mad, and can’t wait to come home to the flat, flat brownness of Alberta so I can cuddle you and not let go for ages.
