This is the bag I’m knitting to take to the Sock Summit to fill with all sorts of wonderful sock yarn. It is actually starting to look like a bag now, not just a square.

And I’ve started on the second colour! My Revolutionary Stitch Markers are really coming in handy: as you go up the sides, you leave one stitch of each square live, to pick up when you start the next tier. The markers are perfect mini stitch holders. I’ve also threaded one through the fabric so I know which square was first of this tier:

It’s so great to see it take shape, and I can just imagine all the great stuff I’m going to buy and put in it! I was just coming off a yarn diet when the Summit was announced, so I just kept on not buying yarn in order to save it all up until I can fondle everything in person.

I really like doing mitred squares. Have such little units of work still gives me a huge feeling of accomplishment when I finish one. And I’m getting really good at picking up stitches!

While all you out there were writing novels and posting every day, this blog suddenly turned into No Blog Post Month. It was unofficial, I didn’t mean to stop but work just ran away with me. I also didn’t do much knitting at all. But, that knitterly urge has come back, and I have finished something!

This something was very close to done anyway, when I picked it up a few days ago, but it is a start towards my goal of having no WIPs lagging over into the New Year. I don’t think I’ll make that, but we’ll see.

I finished…. a Fleece Artist Shoulder Wrap!

A simple pattern in a pretty yarn. The yarn is Silk Spun and is 100% silk, with a boucle-like texture.

The yarn came with a pattern on the label, and that is what I followed. I say ‘pattern’, but it is just a garter stitch triangle, the yarn is the thing.

Somehow, with the giant gap between when I started this (August!!) and when I finished (a few minutes ago!) I forgot that the increases were on both ends of each row, just not the begining. I remembered that part way through, and changed, so it has a bit of an interesting shape. That doesn’t really concern me though, as I will most likely always wear it like this anyway:

Well, I do have to run off to work for the rest of the day, but hopefully in a day or two I can show you my progress on the Millicents! These will be done before the New Year. That’s my new goal.

Doesn’t that sound like a knitting book title? Except I think I’m almost completely over books that have ‘simple’ in the title. Give me challenges! I want knitting to exercise my brain!

Except right now, sometimes I just need a little simplicity. The following project is about as simple as it gets, but with such a yarn as I have, you don’t need anything more.

This is the start of a simple triangular shawl/scarf thing in Handmaiden Silk Spun. I believe the colourway is ‘Paris’, but the label didn’t give me any hints, that’s just me guessing. I’m using the ‘pattern‘ that came on the label.

It’s really just a shallow triangle in garter stitch, but the colours are lovely, the fabric is soft and squishy, and it’s just really simple to knit. It’s the first thing I’ve done on straight needles in a long time, and they feel a bit odd. I need to switch to a circ soon anyway, each row gets longer and longer.

I love it because I can pick it up and even knit while I’m talking to mum on the phone. Although that does give me a wicked crick in the neck.
